Johanna Sontheimer

Johanna Sontheimer is a dancer and teacher from Stockholm. She grew up with music and dance being a natural part of her upbringing. At the age of 9 she started taking classes and has danced many different genres and styles since.

Her specialty lays in Swedish traditional couple dances which she has studied at Eric Sahlströmsinstitutet and Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola where she just completed her bachelor’s degree to become a dance pedagog.

In her teaching she focuses on technique, connection and musicality with the aim to create a comfortable, musical and enjoyable dance. She likes to add playful group elements in her classes and her main goal is to explore and have a good time together.

In Alegria do Norte you will get the opportunity to try one of the Swedish couple dances, which like forró, is based on 2 time music. Differences and similarities will be explored and hopefully you will leave with a piece of new dance knowledge.
